Central Locking System

Central locking is one of the features that is present in most of the new entrants into the Indian automobile market. New cars are generally installed with a power-operated locking system that is connected to the alarm system of the vehicle. If the driver wants to lock the vehicle from the inside, Driver makes use of the key fob to lock the front doors. This automatically locks the remaining three doors of the car. Later if the driver manually unlocks his own door, the other doors will be unlocked as well. Driver can also use the unlock button over the key fob for the same.

Modern locking systems help to increase both security and safety in vehicles. Where security is concerned, they provide protection against theft and, in conjunction with an alarm system, act as a deterrent. In terms of safety, the integrated control of lighting elements when doors are unlocked, for example, contributes to safety on the road by improving the visibility of open doors.

The central locking system is a very important line of safety for the occupants of the car. Each car key has a distinct code that synchronises with the alarm system of the vehicle. Once the car is locked using the key, the engine immobiliser goes off. The system will come back up only when the same code is received from the car key. The very fact that the central locking system of the car prevents the vehicle from starting by turning on the engine’s immobiliser is reason enough to protect your vehicle with it.

When the driver’s door is locked, a switch moves in the master driver unit. This unit then transmits a signal to the drive units that assist in moving the link rods. This process unlocks or locks the other doors as well.

There are several types of central locking systems available today. It is possible to use a remote from a distance and operate the locks of the car. Some of the remotes can also set off the alarm of the vehicle. Moreover, the locking and unlocking sound can be useful to the owner in some unconventional ways. For instance, it can be used to locate the car in a huge parking lot that houses hundreds of vehicles. The remote of the central locking system basically works on radio waves that are transmitted to the device fitted in the car.

The most significant benefit of having a central locking system in your car is the security it offers. The system enables you to easily lock all doors through the operation of the driver’s lock. There is no danger of leaving the door in an unlocked position. Small children will be safe in the back seat as you can effortlessly lock the rear doors as well.
